How to Apply

To apply for admission to the college, you must submit a completed LCC Application to the Admissions and Records Office. You must be 18 years of age by the first day of instruction, a high school graduate or have received a General Education Diploma (GED).
The 10 campuses of the University of Hawaii System share the same application database. Therefore, one application form can be used to apply to either a baccalaureate degree program or to a community college program.

Application Fee

Residents of the State of Hawaii do not pay an application fee. Non-residents are assessed a $25 non-refundable application fee that must be submitted at the time of application. Money order or checks payable to "University of Hawaii" must accompany your System application form. Exceptions to the application processing charge are made for members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their authorized dependants who qualify for military exceptions.
Transcripts

Transcripts from previously attended post-high school institutions are not required for admission purposes. Evaluating previous college credits is optional unless you are planning to apply for financial aid or veteran administration benefits. Click here for transfer to LCC procedures.
Home School Early Admission Program
-
- Submit UH system Application Form and Home School Request for Early Admission, a copy of DOE form 4140 and arrange for the high school to send official DOE 10th grade level test scores from the Statewide Testing Program to LCC by the published deadline.
- Submit medical clearances (TB & MMR)
- Submit a written personal statement explaining your expectations and goals for enrolling at LCC
- Take the Compass placement test
- Meet course pre-requisites/requirements to enroll in requested or alternate course
- Meet with Early admit counselor to register for a course
- Register in one on-campus LCC course on a space available basis
- Be responsible for knowing and following LCC policies, procedures, and deadlines.
Academically, artistically or vocationally accomplished applicants. 15 years of age or older and not currently enrolled in a public, private, charter, or independent high school may be considered for LCC's early Admission Program

Immunization

The State Department of Health requires all students to be cleared of tuberculosis and provide proof of immunity to measles (rubeola). TB and MMR documentation is not required for admission to the college but must be submitted before you can register for courses. You may visit the LCC Health Center web page for more information about the shots.
The tuberculosis clearance must not be dated earlier than 12 months prior to the first day of instruction. Proof of measles immunization can be either a record of two MMR shots or a positive result of a blood test (titer). Applicants who were born before 1957, do not need to provide proof of measles immunizations.
Use of Social Security Number
Each applicant is advised that disclosure of his/her Social Security Number (SSN) is required as a condition for his/her application. SSN will be used to verify the identity of the applicant. For more information, see the Notice to Applicant for Admission section in the application instructions.
In an effort to protect your SSN, you will be assigned a student identification number called Banner ID. You will be informed of your student identification number in your acceptance letter. This number will be used in place of your SSN on class rosters and can be used as identification purposes within the University of Hawaii system.
SPECIAL NOTICE TO NONRESIDENT STUDENTS

- enrolled for 6 credits or more at any high education institution(s) in Hawai`i;
- was absent from Hawai`i for more than 30 days per year during school vacation periods;
- received student financial assistance based on residency in another state; or
- was a dependent of nonresident parent(s) or legal guardian.
Nonresident students who enter Leeward Community College may not be allowed to change his/her residency status from nonresident to resident during any period in which he/she:
This policy is in accordance with Chapter 20-4-8, Hawai`i Administrative Rules:
Presence in Hawai`i primarily to attend an institution of higher learning shall not create resident status. A nonresident student enrolled for six credits or more per term shall be presumed to be in Hawai`i primarily for educational purposes. Such period of enrollment shall not be counted toward the establishment of a bona fide domicile of one year in Hawai`i. A student may rebut this presumption of nonresidence if clear and convincing evidence is provided that the student has abandoned the student’s previous residence and has established a bona fide residence in Hawai`i primarily for purposes other than educational.
To demonstrate the intent to make Hawai`i your legal residency, filing a Hawai`i resident personal income tax return is the primary indicia.
