Leeward Community College, Financial Aid office was there for me when I needed them the most. They helped me understand the financial aid application in a less confusing and more comprehensible way. I attended LCC in 2001. At that time, I was very inexperienced at filling out applications. As a former English Language Learner, formerly known as English as Second Language Learner, I also struggled at understanding application such as financial aid. Because my parents are both illiterate, I also didn’t have the luxury of having my parents assist me in this matter. The first financial aid application I filed out came back needing several corrections. Right away, LCC’s Financial Aid office informed me of the problem and provided me with the step-by-step process on how to answer the three different worksheets needed to correctly complete the application." -Marisol

At Leeward Community College, we want to offer all students the opportunity to pursue their educational goals. Our financial aid program helps students and parents determine the best way to pay for college. The United States Department of Education's Federal Processor uses the information on the application to determine the extent to which the family should provide toward the student's education. The financial aid office has access to this information and tries to supplement what the parents cannot provide toward the student's cost of education. The majority of aid awarded by Leeward Community College is federal and based on demonstrated financial need.
