browser. Some tutorials may feature audio or video. You may still
view these programs even if your computer does not have these
capabilities. For PowerPoint presentations, if you are using
Explorer, click on the small "screen" icon in the lower right hand

These tutorials show how to perform basic and advanced searches, as well
as use other features of the ScienceDirect database. ScienceDirect provides
searchable full text access to over 1,700 Elsevier Science journals from
1995 to the present.

This guide was developed for the Biology 200 class on coral reef
ecology. It provides information on finding background and current
research trends information, how to access the current literature,
how to do in-depth searching of periodical databases. Relevant
information sources are suggested. This guide also introduces the
use of Boolean logic for more effective databases searching.
