On Wednesday, May 7, 2008, Leeward Community College was presented an award at the Aloha United Way “thank you luncheon” to recognize organizations that do volunteer income tax returns for the community.   The College was recognized as the “Most Productive Site -  Tax Season 2008” in the State of Hawaii by the Lieutenant Governor, Duke Aiona.  BusTech Division Chair, Roy Kamida, is the site coordinator that led Leeward CC and UHWOC students and community volunteers with completing over 400 tax returns for low-income families during the January to April tax season.
