HE1000 Introduction to Medical Terminology - 6 Hours
Learn the basic rules of medical word building. Learn how to identify major prefixes and suffixes as well as how to create compound words. HE1100 Advanced Medical Terminology - 42 Hours

Nurse Aide

HE2100 Nurse Aide - 150 Hours
This program is an intensive hands-on training program that prepares you to pass the American Red Cross Competency Evaluation Examination for state certification. Upon passing the examination you will be credentialed as a Certified Nurse Aide( CNA). Training includes theory and practice by an experienced instructor with supervised clinical experience at a designated medical facility. Tuition includes, scrubs, textbook and Adult CPR/First Aid/AED Certification. Prerequisite to register: Nurse Aide Application Form (PDF) 54 KB. Tuition: $1,550

HE2101 Nurse Aide Recertification - 24 Hours
This course is for CNA's who need to renew their Hawaii State Certification credential by attending 6 hours of classroom instruction and 18 hours of clinical experience. Adult Residential Care

HE2212 Adult Residential Care Home Module 12 - 15 Hours
Prepares the adult residential care home operator to observe the resident for signs and symptoms of common diseases, make medications available, and prepare for special diets. Prerequisite to register: Adult Residential Care Home Module Application Form (PDF) 54 KB. Tuition: $250

HE2213 Adult Residential Care Home Module 13 - 15 Hours
Prepares the adult residential care home operator to assist in the provision of occupational, physical, recreational, and diversional therapy. Identifies the operator's role in fostering mental health and care of the mentally ill and mentally retarded. HE2214 Adult Residential Care Home Module 14 - 15 Hours
Prepare the adult residential care home operator to implement specified regulations of Chapter 100, prepare simple accounting records, and identify community resources available to resident operators. Prerequisite to register: Adult Residential Care Home Module Application Form (PDF) 54 KB. Tuition: $250

Family Caregiver

HE2000 Family Caregiver Modules - 16 Hours
This 16 Hour course will help participants gain an understanding of what is involved in caring for a loved one and how to provide that care through modules covering personal care nutrition home safety and others. Weekly guest speakers provide added insights and knowledge. No prerequisites needed. Tuition: TBA

HE20001 Journey to Changes - Dealing with Loss & Grief - 6 Hours
This course is designed for individuals who are caregiver or who are working or plan to work in hospice care, home care programs, counseling settings nursing homes and health related facilities. Understand and explore responses to past losses, changes, transitions, and deaths. Discover ways to nurture yourself and others through challenging moments. Celebrate changes! Plus $15 lab fee payable to instructor at class. Tuition: $29

Medical Assistant

AH2300 Medical Assistant – 720 Hours
This intensive certificate program includes theory and practice in the field of Medical Assistant. Participants will learn to perform Administrative Clerical Skills; utilizing office productivity tools and specialty application such as Connex MD, a Team Praxis - A DataHouse Holdings Company medical office management system and Clinical Tasks.  Additionally, participants will engage in 110 hours of Service Learning and a supervised 240 hours of Externship. Upon successful completion of the program, the participant is eligible to take the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification exam administered by the American Medical Technologist (AMT). Tuition will include American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR and Heartsavers First Aid Certification, uniforms, and textbooks. Medical Coding

AH2401 Medical Office & Out-Patient Facility Bill Coding - 90 Hours
This coding certification class includes a medical terminology review (Anesthesia, Medicine, Laboratory, Diagnostic, Operative/Surgical, ICD-9-CM. Documentation/Operative reports, ENT, Orthopedic, Ocular, Pathology, Advanced Radiology). Students must bring their own copy of 2007 CPT-4 and 2007 ICD-9 Vol 1 & 2, and 2007 HCPCS textbook. (May be purchased locally through JEL Enterprises, Inc. Call 678-8636). Prerequisites: Two years employment in the medical coding field and completion of Advanced Medical Terminology (AH1100). Note: Tuition does not include National Exam fee. Tuition: $1,200
