About Hawaii Repertory Theatre

Established to provide local audiences with meaningful, challenging and engaging theatre, as well as provide local theatre professionals a forum in which they could practice their craft, the Hawaii Repertory Theatre (HRT), is the realized dream of Brian Lee Sackett, the Theatre’s founder and artistic director.

An actor and designer, whose works span numerous venues throughout the Mid-West, Mr. Sackett received his graduate degree in theatre at the University of Hawaii at Manoa under the tutelage of Mr. Terence Knapp.

HRT begins his long-awaited desire to expose Hawaii audiences to world-class productions while rejuvenating the historic Princess Abigail Kawananakoa Auditorium as a treasured cultural icon in the heart of Nuuanu.
